Sculptra® Aesthetic is an FDA-approved injectable that helps gradually replace lost collagen — an underlying cause of facial aging — for results that can last more than two years. Sculptra® Aesthetic has been approved in the U.S. and has been used worldwide since 1999. It contains a synthetic called poly-L-lactic acid, a biodegradable, biocompatible substance that is gradually and naturally absorbed by the body. This same substance is commonly found in dissolvable stitches.

Sculptra® Aesthetic (injectable poly-L-lactic acid) is indicated for use in people with healthy immune systems
Sculptra® Aesthetic is a single regimen for the correction of shallow to deep nasolabial fold contour deficiencies and other facial wrinkles in which deep dermal grid pattern (cross-hatch) injection technique is appropriate. It is used to correct shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds such as nasolabial folds and marionette lines.
Fillers such as Juvederm® and Restylane® and others are liquid or gel substances, like hyaluronic acid or bovine or porcine collagen, which diminish lines by pushing up the dermis space beneath wrinkles and creases. Results appear immediately and can last up to several months.
Sculptra® Aesthetic on the other hand is a collagen stimulator and is used to diminish facial wrinkles by helping to restore the deep, underlying structure of the skin. With Sculptra® Aesthetic, results appear gradually over the treatment regime but last longer.
In general, with Sculptra® Aesthetic, three injections over the course of three to four months will produce results that can last up to two years.
If there are no complications, you may apply makeup several hours after your injection with Sculptra® Aesthetic. Our medical provider will inform you on how soon you can wear makeup.
Sculptra® Aesthetic is FDA approved in the United States and has been used worldwide since 1999. It is naturally absorbed by the body and has been used for years in dissolvable stitches./
Since Sculptra® Aesthetic does not contain any human or animal components, no allergy testing is needed prior to treatments. Just like with any other injection, side effects can include injection site pain, redness, bruising, tenderness, itching and lumps, bleeding or swelling. Small bumps under the skin can sometimes be noticeable when pressing on the treated area. Larger lumps, with or without inflammation, have also been reported.
Within the first 24 hours of your Sculptra® Aesthetic injection, apply a cloth-wrapped cold pack to the treated area for a few minutes at a time. Massage the treated area for five minutes five times a day for five days after treatment. And finally, avoid excessive sunlight and UV lamp exposure until any initial swelling and redness go away.
Specialists who have been trained to inject Sculptra® Aesthetic and are licensed to practice within the state may administer treatment. This can include physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses and other trained personnel.
Several factors decide the cost such as number of treatment sessions needed, number of Sculptra® Aesthetic vials used per session, degree of necessary correction determined by you and your specialist, and specialist fees. The procedure as well as the cost will be discussed with you at the time of your complimentary consult.
