Answers…

1. What is Restylane Silk?

Restylane Silk is the newest hyaluronic acid filler to the Restylane family of products. Hyaluronic acid is a common component to the second layer of the skin, and it helps provide structure to the skin. It is a smooth, silky formulation of smaller particle hyaluronic acid gel that provides improvement of fine lines around the mouth and corrects volume loss of the lips as well as smoker lines or “lipstick lines” around the lips.

2. How does Restylane Silk differ from Restylane?

Restylane Silk differs from other Restylane family members by its particle size. For example the Restylane Lyft has larger particles that make it ideal for lifting tissue and creating deep volume in the face. Regular Restylane has a mid range particle size that makes it versatile as a filler from enhancing lip size to filling in facial volume loss. On the other hand, Restylane Silk has the smallest particle size, allowing it to smooth fine wrinkles such as perioral rhytids (lipstick lines) or for lip augmentation.

3. How does Restylane Silk differ from Juvederm?

The Allergan family of Juvederm products is composed of cohesive gels, meaning they are not formed of particles. They provide a smooth result and attract water to the area of placement. Restylane Silk can be categorized as a fine line filler composed of fine particles. This makes Restylane Silk ideal as a filler for fine lines and wrinkles and for lip augmentation.

4. Where can Restylane Silk be injected?

Restylane Silk is FDA-approved for the correction of perioral lines (smoker lines or lipstick lines around the mouth) as well as for lip enhancement. In addition to eliminating wrinkles around the mouth and plumping lips. It can also be used to correct other fine lines such as crow’s feet, forehead lines, and horizontal neck lines.

5. How long does Restylane Silk last?

Due to the fact that Restylane Silk is broken down by the body, it usually lasts anywhere between 6 to 12 months.

6. Are there any side effects to Restylane Silk?

With Restylane Silk, mild swelling and bruising may occur. In some patients and to avoid any discomfort, a numbing agent is applied to the injection site prior to procedure.

7. Is there any downtime with Restylane Silk?

With Restylane Silk there is a little to no downtime. In the rare event of swelling or bruising, the proper medication needs to be followed to avoid any possible downtime.

8. What is the cost of Restylane?

The cost depends on how many syringes are needed based on the treatment sites. The number of syringes injected can depend on the number of areas injected and the patient’s goals. It can range from 1 syringe to several. The procedure as well as the cost will be discussed with you at the time of your complimentary consult.
