KYBELLA® is the only injectable approved by the FDA to improve the appearance of moderate to severe convexity or fullness associated with submental fat in adults also referred to as the “double chin.”
KYBELLA® is geared toward people looking for an improved chin profile. It was developed through a synthetic formulation of deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat.

It is a more scientific way of saying “double chin” and is a common, yet undertreated facial aesthetic condition that can:
According to a 2015 survey by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), 67% of consumers are bothered by submental fullness—nearly as many as those bothered by lines and wrinkles around the eyes (69%).
Our Physician injects KYBELLA® into targeted fat pockets under your chin. KYBELLA® then causes the rapid destruction and absorption of fat cells while also preventing future fat accumulation. After treatment, the fat that is cleared from the area is processed by the body’s natural metabolic process. KYBELLA® only targets fat cells; all other cells and tissue remain unaffected.
KYBELLA® is administered to the fat under the chin through a series of injections. Because each person is unique, a custom treatment plan is tailored for each individual patient.
KYBELLA® injections are non-invasive with minimal downtime or recovery required. Most treatments last between 15 and 20 minutes. Pre and post injection icing of the area help minimize the discomfort. For very sensitive patients, lidocaine (a topical numbing anesthetic) can be used to minimize discomfort.
Depending on the patient’s desired results and goals, multiple treatments may be necessary. However, most patients experience visible results within two treatments, but some may need a third session. Treatment sessions are spaced about 30 days apart.
KYBELLA® is a permenant solution to your “double chin” problem. Once the aesthetic response is achieved no further treatments will be required unless submental fullness redevelops which is highly unlikely.
KYBELLA® is limited to the treatment of fat under the chin. So if you intend to eliminate the fat under your chin and you do not have a medical condition that prevents you from having the procedure, then KYBELLA® is the right choice for you. KYBELLA®, however, does not treat excess or loose skin, nor can it treat fat in other areas of the neck or face. For such areas there are other options such as liposuction and neck lift.
The safety profile of KYBELLA® is well-characterized. The most common adverse reactions were edema/swelling, hematoma/bruising and numbness. In rare cases patients experienced pain, erythema and induration. Most side effects are only temporary and easy to deal with.
KYBELLA® is manufactured through a highly-controlled, FDA-regulated process and approved facility to ensure patient safety.
The cost depends on how many sessions are needed as well as the area size being small, medium or large. The procedure as well as the cost will be discussed with you at the time of your complimentary consult.
