Answers…

1. What is JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® indicated for?

JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® is the first and only FDA-approved non-surgical option to instantly correct age-related volume loss in the cheek area in patients 21 and older. It has been used in Europe since 2005 with hundreds of thousands of patients.

2. How is JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® different from other dermal fillers?

JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® uses a new advanced technology from Allergan which is called Vycross that was specially designed to fill and lift the mid-face and cheeks. Vycross results in a smooth gel that flows easily and consistently and which can be nicely sculpted. This special cross-linking technology not only produces the lift and fill that is unique to Voluma, but it also contributes to its long-lasting nature.

3. How is the JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® treatment administered?

Our Physician use needles to inject JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® into the check area. Sometimes they use little blunt microcannulas in addition to traditional small needles to help create a natural look while minimizing discomfort and bruising.

4. How long does JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® last?

JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® can last up to two years with optimal correction. The longevity of the results will depend on factors such as your health, weight and body chemistry as well as the volume injected and the skill of the injector.

5. Is the injection painful?

There is typically minimal discomfort during the injection procedure. Topical numbing cream may be applied before treatment to reduce discomfort but the JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® we use comes already pre mixed with the numbing agent lidocaine.

6. Do I need to test for allergy prior to my JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® injection?

No. Allergy testing is not needed for JUVÉDERM or other brands of hyaluronic acid fillers which are very safe.

7. How old do I need to be to be treated?

JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® is FDA approved for use over age 21.

8. Is there any downtime associated with JUVÉDERM VOLUMA®?

JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® results are immediate and very natural looking. Typically you may return to your normal activities immediately. Sometimes transient side effects occur the next day such as bruising and mild swelling, so you do need to consider this in your planning.

9. What do I need to avoid a day or 2 prior to having the injection?

Baby aspirin, blood thinners, fish oil, …etc. can increase your risk or the severity of bruising so you definitely need to avoid them prior to having the injection.

10. How much does JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® cost?

The cost depends on how many syringes the physician recommends and is based on how much JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® it takes for him to restore volume to your cheeks. The procedure as well as the cost will be discussed with you at the time of your complimentary consult.
