Laser Skin Resurfacing

Whether you have fair or dark skin, the dulling effects of sun damage and age produce wrinkles, fine lines, and other skin irregularities.

Like with any skin resurfacing procedure, including chemical peels and dermabrasion, laser resurfacing works by stripping away the top layers of dead skin, leaving the way for new cells to appear, creating tighter and younger looking skin. The procedure is non-invasive and is performed on an outpatient basis with no anesthesia.

1. What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing uses a high energy beam to remove the outer layer of the skin and expose the underlying layers to significantly improve skin texture.

2. What does Laser Skin Resurfacing treat? What areas can be treated?

Laser Skin Resurfacing is best used for treating fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, pores, dark spots, and skin growth. A common area to treat is the face of course and hence the name Laser Facial. Laser Skin Resurfacing can however treat other areas like the neck and arms.

3. What is the difference between Laser Skin Resurfacing and Whisper Laser Facial?

Whisper Laser Facial is a form of Laser Skin Resurfacing that uses the Erbium YAG laser technology. The Whisper laser uses pinpoint accuracy to deliver more delicate treatments than a chemical peel or a CO2 laser. The unique digital Whisper hand piece covers a large skin area in a relatively short time, delivering an effective dry laser peel in minutes.

4. Is Laser Skin Resurfacing treatment painful?

Laser Skin Resurfacing using Whisper is not painful compared to other forms of Laser Resurfacing. There is no need for anesthesia and no extended healing time. During the treatment you will feel a mild sensation as the Whisper laser lightly peels away the surface layer of your skin.

5. What do I expect after the Laser Skin Resurfacing treatment? How long is the recovery time?

Right after the treatment your skin will feel a little dry and you may experience some redness for a few days to weeks. As necessary, we will prescribe some creams or ointments to keep the skin moist and protected as you heal. During this time you will be advised to protect your skin from excessive sun light and to not tan. The redness will eventually fade and your skin will start peeling. In the rare event that you experience swelling, ice compresses and appropriate medication can be prescribed by our physician.

6. What is the expected outcome of the Laser Skin Resurfacing treatment?

Your skin texture will dramatically improve, wrinkles and fine lines will diminish and minor ones will disappear. Your face will glow and your friends will notice it.
